ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is designed for aspiring event planners and marketers with a strong interest in event driven marketing, special event coordination, hospitality, nightlife and tourism.
Your job duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Event conceptualization and coordination for block parties in the Gaslamp Quarter such as Gaslamp Mardi Gras (Jan-March), Irish 4 A Day (Jan-March), San Diego Zombie Crawl (Aug-Oct).
- Management of online marketing, social media, and email marketing campaigns.
- Support events and marketing efforts of BID – Business Improvement Districts such as GQA - Gaslamp Quarter Association and EVA – east Village Association
- Hospitality Consulting
- Perform SWOT Analysis to identify business opportunities and develop strategies for new businesses
- Manage the GEM & Downtown Dolls Brand
- Talent Scouting & Management
DESIRED HOURS PER WEEK + LENGTH:
12-20 hour per week
2 - 3 months
SALARY / BENEFITS & PERKS
- This is an unpaid internship offered to students seeking to gain school credit as well as first-hand experience in event planning and marketing.
- If accepted for this position, intern will gain various skills and benefits such as establishment of a solid professional network by working with those affiliated in San Diego’s professional and social scene.

- You will gain a very well-rounded experience in special event coordination; event based marketing, social media integration, public relations, creative writing, business management, and more.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- You must be fun-loving, energetic, outgoing and driven.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Familiar with various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
- Keen attention to detail, efficient in executing tasks
- Professional demeanor; team player orientation. Ability to interface with internal and external parties.
- Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising discretion and independent judgment, be a “self-starter” and “go-getter”
- Knowledge of Canva, Meta Business Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, graphic design a plus.
